Looking Forward-2009!

This one came as an email forward, from who else but AB!

2007 and 2008 was when.........when we got a job.........when we passed out of college....when we made new amazing friends.....when some of us moved to a new city.....When some of us celebrated our 21st - 24th birthdays.....
When we waved good bye to our buddies leaving to the states for higherstudies...when some of us fell in love........when some of us fell out of lovewhen some of us got hurt...when some of your 'friends' screwed up your love life....when some 'one' you liked, did not like 'you'..
when we would have made mistakes...when we made life decisions.......when these decisions turned out to be a tragedy...when some of us felt lonely ....when some of us made an amazing friends in a new city......when some of us would have learnt to be stronger.....
when some of us would have realized that everything happens for areason.....when some of us let out our anger.....when some of us never opened up to our friends about how we felt.... when some of us felt so glad and happy to be the way they are..... when we go out everyday and meet up with our friends...when we had serious talks with our dad about our future.....
when we missed each other when we were at hometown.....when we missed our mom here ...when we cried for each other ...When we celebrated our first Christmas with our friends ..When we were jobless all the time in office ....When we walked around the streets late in the night ..
When we put budget for the next month (but strictly not following it) Lastyear has taken us through all our ups and downs we faced in our life...

2009.......one more year.....A year to....
To find our life partner ...(might be)to forget old crushes.to smile........to let people know how much u care...to learn from our mistakes.......to cry when we are feeling down.....to follow our dreams.......to fight against everything for our dreams to come true.....to be more confident.........to be more strong at heart and mind.....to enrich our knowledge.........to make others happy....
Lets take each day as it comes........Forget about the downs we came across in the past year........And remember every lesson we learnt through them........Let's Enjoy Life to the Fullest............
LET'S WAIT FOR THE WONDERFUL YEAR AHEAD – 2009 !!HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE!!!

Resolutions for 2009...

There has never ever been a year when I've stuck to my new year resolutions. However like every year so far, I've come up with a few for the coming year...

1. Re-join a dance class
2. Re-start jogging
3. Begin driving to college
4. Be optimistic about the search for a suitable boy!
5. Not fight with Ma
6. Wear sarees to work
7. Splurge on myself (6th pay commission after all!)
8. Not view my emotional overdose as a bad thing ;)
9. Read atleast one non-academic book every month.
10. Begin PhD application process.

(Not necessarily in the above order.)

As 2008 draws to a close...

Finally I have gotten down to 'blogging'. It does feel strange, moving away from the pen-and-journal scene but it doesn't feel wrong, so let see how long this lasts!
2008 has sure been one year I am unlikely to forget. For reasons both good and not so pleasant...

It began with me being at CESP, JNU 4th sem. While the first three semesters allowed for as much fun as any masters programme in economics could allow for, the fourth one proved that too much fun can eventually lead to diminishing utility as well! The finals were a rushed affair, followed by an insane summer. There was the Copenhagen Consensus in Denmark. I don't think I've been to a city more cosy than copenhagen! The streets, the lakes, the people, Tivoli...and a certain someone made it the perfect place to spend a part of the summer ;) After that was the youth forum in Australia where issues of sustainability were discussed as we shuttled between Sydney, Canberra, Darwin and Alice Springs.

And sometime between Denmark and Australia, I did something right somewhere to land up as an Assistant Professor of Economics at LSR, DU! Even I hadn't imagined such luck would come my way. And so the past six months have been just wonderful.
I love my job even with the tons of studying it involves. I love the DU colleges, how there's so much open space and lawns all around; how the corridors are always open from one side, so there's always some bits of blue sky to see and some birds to hear. And I absolutely adore my students :) Meeting them everyday, during lectures, and otherwise, and talking to them, hearing them go on about their lives and hopes and dreams - makes me realise we were JUST like that! And if we've come so far then there really is hope for the rest of DU kids...

So I'm 24, have the best job on the planet (and anyone who disagrees can just...). But that apart, being 24 is Just Not Easy!!! I find myself so much more opinionated all of a sudden. And a lot less tolerant of things I earlier never had a problem with. I fell in love even though I should have been falling out of it! My best friend's boyfriend suddenly passed away. I know too many girl friends who are suddenly tying the knot. The arranged marriage process for me has begun too (more on that later!). And while I always knew I was not made for a love-marriage, I never guessed how confusing things could be (alot more on this will come later!). I feel like I want to try out so many new things, and yet unlike ever before, I find myself hesitating from taking them up, For No Reason At All..... Alot of my really close friends have moved away, and it's not always the best of 'keep in touch' situations! And alot of people suddenly don't understand what I'm trying to tell them! Sometimes I feel I just dont know myself anymore...!
Hopefully 2009 will be a year of new discoveries :)
